There was a time when exposing one's ankles in public was considered whorish. That may seem exaggerated now, but the belief that drove women to wear floor-length clothing was that men are fundamentally uncontrollable humans, a belief that has persisted to the present day.
Women are prevalently the victims of verbal and physical abuse, as well as sexual harassment. They are also anxious about being assaulted or raped on their way home from either work late at night or hanging out with friends. Women should be comfortable wearing anything they wish without the fear of being judged by society. They should be able to freely wear anything that pleases them without getting harassed. They should be allowed to wear anything they choose without having to adjust to men's self-control. Let’s begin to make a difference by correcting men who still have this thinking in our society.
